Over the last couple of years, our relationship with the cable companies has evolved.B Not long ago, there were not many instances where we would recommend cable as an option for an internet service providerB to one of our customers.B A business that relies on its internet service to be productive simply needed something that was, shall we say, reliable.
Fortunately, things have changed.B There are SOME instances now where cable is a really good alternative.B Itb s important to have realistic expectations though.
The cable and phone service that you purchase from a cable company is still delivered, in most cases, on the coaxial backbone that services thousands, if not millions, of residential customers.B And, while business class customers take priority on the network, when utilization is really high everyone suffers.
That being said, there are many ways we use cable company services to meet the needs of our customers.B We consider all factors and make a recommendation that provides the most value.B Some of those factors include:
- Service Level Agreements
- Cost
- Redundancy
If the cable network wins in some categories, the losses in others might more than offset any gains.B You need to b do the mathb before making a decision about cable that is based solely on cost.
